An important clash in this week’s Premier League fixtures is going down this afternoon in London, as Chelsea face off against City: champions to extend their lead? This is an important match for both sides, as Chelsea will want to continue their winning streak after beating Spurs 1-4 last week in what was a crazy encounter, while City can take advantage of Spurs’ second loss in a row against Wolves yesterday.

With a win, the Blues could prove that they have what it takes to fight for the European spots this season, after completely missing out last year. A win for City would propel them three points ahead of Arsenal and four above Spurs – as we wait for Liverpool’s result later today. A Chelsea win would send the Blues just two points off of Newcastle, one of their main contenders for Top 4. However, Chelsea have only managed 4 wins in 11 so far this season, and it seems unlikely that their defence will be able to cope with City’s intensity, especially considering they have only managed three clean sheets in their last eight outings.

Both teams come into this game with a number of injured players, Chelsea especially as the Blues will miss Nkunku, Lavia, Fofana, Chilwell and more. City on the other hand will play without the likes of De Bruyne and Stones, two cardinal pieces of their stellar midfield. That being said, its difficult to see any other result than a City win in this one, although who knows maybe Chelsea’s win against Spurs will have injected new confidence in Pochettino’s side. A Chelsea double chance at 1.92 is not a bad chance, as is a Manchester City win at 1.83. Champions to extend lead in the table then? We think so, and it’s likely that only Arsenal or Liverpool have a slim chance of stopping them.

Chelsea to Win – 4.33

Draw – 3.66

Manchester City to Win – 1.83
