We have a Californian meeting between two NBA superpowers, as Curry and Harden clash again in Los Angeles tonight. Golden State have lost 5 of their last 8 games, including two losses to the Suns. They also lost to the Clippers on December 2nd in LA by a single point, as Paul George’s late heroics saved his team. The Warriors have started the season quite poorly, with their record currently at 10-13. The Clippers also started quite badly, losing six in a row after trading for Harden on Halloween. Since then, they have won ten of their last thirteen matches and are among the best current teams in the league. This is an important meeting for both teams, who are looking to improve their record in hopes of avoiding the play-in spots at the end of the season.
The Warriors are in a bit of a topsy-turvy moment of the season. Green has been suspended indefinitely for lashing out at Nurkic, while Curry remains the only player to consistently score. Klay has had a rough season so far, and looks set to perhaps leave at the end of the year. The Clippers on the other hand need to continue their current form, as their top stars are all out of contract in the off-season: this is likely their last chance to win a chip with this group. The Clippers have the advantage, although they’ll want to win by a larger margin than two weeks ago. As Curry and Harden clash again, this feels like one for he last dances for that generation of point guards which dominated the Western Conference with Golden State and the Rockets in the late 2010s.
