What an amazing NBA clash we have in store tonight, as the Mavericks travel to reigning champions Denver in a fight for best in the West. Denver won when these last two sides met last month, as Jokic was one assist shy of a triple-double. These two sides currently stand in third and fourth place over in the West, with Denver one game behind Dallas. This is obviously also a clash between two MVP frontrunners in Jokic – who already won two – and Luka Doncic. Both have been setting the league on fire in recent weeks.
Denver has not started the season as well as they started last year’s, eventually winning it. This is because they have a shorter bench than last season, but also because of Jamal Murray’s recurring injuries. However, important to keep in mind that Kyrie Irving will be out for this clash, getting inadvertently injured by his team-mate last week. It is likely that Denver will dominate in the paint, given Jokic’s prowess. The duels between Doncic and Murray will also be key: if the Slovenian gets to his spot, it could be a long day for the Canadian PG.
We give Denver the slight edge, as they rarely lose at home – although they did recently against OKC. Both teams need to start putting together a string of results if they want to catch runaways Minnesota, who look incapable of losing at the moment.
