The last game in Group F might be a useless one of PSG go on and win in Germany. However, in the case that doesn’t happen, both of these teams have a chance to still qualify. Both teams have been underwhelming in the groups, and have been majorly hampered by injuries. Newcastle are in a bit of a bind in the league as well, conceding seven in their last two games against Everton and Spurs. Milan lost a late game to Atalanta over the weekend, but were on a two game winning streak before that. Their defensive struggles are a result of their makeshift backline, which has been implemented as 4 of their centre backs are out through injury. AC Milan are still without 4 of their 5 centre backs, and will field Theo Hernandez in that position alongside Tomori, while Florenzi will take over at left back.

Rafael Leao is finally back for aC Milan after missing over a month through injury: a welcome addition to their frontline. On the other hand, Newcastle will play without the likes of Burn, Botman, Pope, Murphy, Anderson and Barnes, alongside the suspended Tonali. In order to advance, Milan need to beat Newcastle and hope Dortmund take all three points against PSG. Newcastle have a slightly more favourable scenario: they need to win their home game and simply hope PSG don’t take all three points in Germany. Either way it will be close to a miracle for either of these two sides to advance. In any case, a Europa League spot is also up for grabs with a win for either side, which is a motivation that should not be underestimated especially for Newcastle. This, like the Dortmund – PSG match, is a really difficult one to call, considering the last hopes of qualification. This group has been entertaining the whole way through: does it have one last surprise in store for us?
