EURO 2024 is quickly drawing to a close, and we have only four teams left in the competiton to fight for the trophy in the semifinals and beyond. Tonight, Spain and France face off, in what promises to be one of the matches of the year between two stellar sides, even though the French have played some rather disappointing football so far in this tournament. Tomorrow, England will vie for a second consecutive EURO final against the Netherlands. Let’s take a look at who will advnace one step away from glory when the final rolls around on Sunday, July 14th.

Spain VS France, Tuesday 21:00 CET

The first semifinal features two of the most successful national sides of the past two decades. Spain have won two consecutive EUROs in 2008 and 2012 – along with a World Cup trophy in between. Meanwhile, France have reached the final of three of the last four international competitions since 2016 – winning the World Cup trophy in 2018. However, these two teams could not be coming into this final playing more different brands of football. Spain have excited fans since the beginning of these EUROs, and won a thrilling encounter at the end of Extra Time against hosts Germany in the quarterfinals. France, on the other hand, are incredibly yet to score from open play in the tournament – scoring two own goals and a penalty so far – and yet find themselves a step away from the final. This is in large part due to their defensive acuity, having condeded just one penalty goal in the competiton so far, and keeping Portugal rather quiet in the Quarterfinal. Importantly, Spain will be without half their starting defensive lineup, as Carvajal and Le Normand are suspended for this match. In addition, Pedri is injured and won’t return for the remainder of the EUROs. Dani Olmo will take his place and give the Spanish a more offensive outlook, as he did against Germany. This could end up being the game of the tournament, although it would not surprise me if it remained goaless into extra time and potentially beyond to penalties. The Under 2.5 at 1.52 is a good choice, albeit a relatively small odd. If, like me, you think France may be able to upset Spain and qualify, playing them as winners is a good shout at 3.14 thanks to CoinGames’s enhanced prices!

Spain to Win – 2.81

Draw – 2.98

France to Win – 3.14

England VS Netherlands, Wednesday 21:00 CET

On the flip side of the bracket are England and the Netherlands, who had – on paper – much easier tasks in the Quarterfinals than Spain and France. England could potentially land a second-straight EUROs final with a win tomorrow. The Netherlands, meanwhile, would returs to the last stage of this competiton for the first time since 1988, when they won it. England had a relatively easy path to this stage of the competition. However, they struggled mightily both against Slovakia and Switzerland, needing extra time in both and even penalties in against the Swiss to advance. On the other hand, the Netherlands convincingly defeated Romania 3-0 in the round of 16, before narrowly beating Turkey in the Quarters. The Dutch have essentially played an hour less of football than the English – whether this will help them over come their rivals in the semifinals is yet to be determined, although it could certainly give them the physicial edge. The form of Harry Kane is perhaps a worry for the English, as he has only scored one goal so far this tounament and has looked quite lost in Southgate’s tactical schemes. They will need him in ful form if they are to take on Van Dijk and the Dutch defense. This game, much like the other semifinal, could easily end up being decided in extra time or beyond, as have the other England knockout stage games. This is due to both managers’ defensive mentaility, especially on the part of Gareth Southgate. That being said, England have a stringer squad overall, and will eventually win this match to set up a final against France or Spain in Berlin. Like the other semifinal, an Under 2.5 is highly recommended.

England to Win – 2.75

Draw – 2.97

Netherlands to Win – 3.23
