Tonight will see two once-great sides that dominated the Premier League go head-to-head for a spot in the Conference or Europa League next season, as Chelsea host historic rivals from the North Manchester United at Stamford Bridge. It is difficult to pinpoint where excatly the season went wrong for these two sides, especially for the Blues from West London. Mauricio Pochettino and Erik Ten Hag will have a massive job on their handsin order to pick their respective sides back up during the transfer market in the summer – if they will remain managers that is. The likes of Arsenal, Manchester City and – to a lesser extent due to Klopp’s exit and the uncertainty that brings – Liverpool look to be set to have massive seasons next year as well, and are likely to make the top 4 spots. That leaves little margin for error for Chelsea and Manchester United oif they want to chalalnge and win significant silverware in 2025. But let’s start by taking a look at this season’s performances and preview their clash tonight.

Chelsea are currently out of contention for any European spots this season, as they amazingly sit twelfth in the league at time of writing, having played two games less than eleventh and newly-promoted Bournemouth, who stand one point clear of them. But not all is lost for the Blues as of yet. If they win their games in hand, they could plausibly rise to 7th, which is currently occupied by West Ham, whi have played three games more than the Blues and have five points more than them. However, judging by Chelsea’s wildly inconsistent form this season, that will be a tough ask. They’ve won only eleven of their 28 games in the Premeir League this season, losing the reverse fixture to United at Old Trafford 2-1 a couple months ago. The Red Devils, on the other hand, comfortably sit in a Europa League position, way too far from either Spurs of Aston Villa to catch up to them and make next year’s edition of the Champions League. Incredibly, United have the sixth worse attack in the league, only scoring 40 goals in 29 games, but have also conceded the same amount, making them the fourth-best defense. That is still noweher good enough for wjere this historic club should rightfully be – challenging for the league alongside the three giants up there this season.

This game promises to at least be entertaining. Both sides have a slew of injuries to deal with, and have been pretty inconsistent on both sides of the ball in recent matches. nited need to take points from this game f they are to make an unprobable comeback for the top 5 spots, as they still need to face Liverpool, Arsenal and Newcastle before the end of the season. Chelsea have nothing to ask anymore of the season, but they’ll want to win against their historic rivals at home. I suggest playing Both Teams to Score at 1.35 for a very safe bet. For a riskier play, a United win away from home at 3.40 is great value for money, even though I perosnally believe this game will end in a draw (4.20) as both sides are utterly incapable of putting a game away, esepcially Chelsea.
