Its a battle of the underwhelming teams so far, as Chelsea travel to Old Trafford: a chance for redemption perhaps? Both of these sides have started the season rather poorly, with United sitting 7th, while Chelsea are 10th. Five points separate these two teams, and a Chelsea win would see them move closer to a european place. However, the Blues have managed 5 wins in 14 league matches, three of which against underwhelming Luton, Burnley and Fulham. On the other hand, United have not been much better, They have lost one more game then Chelsea, but also won three more, and have actually conceded more goals than they’ve scored in the league so far. Their record in the CL is also quite disappointing, conceding 14 goals in 5 games. If we consider all competitions, they’ve conceded 31 goals in 19 games.

This match is an important one for both sides, and it is undoubtedly Chelsea who arrive on better form. The Blues have won three of their last five, which also included a 4-4 draw against City and a 4-1 loss to Newcastle. However, at least the Blues seem like they have remembered how to score, as they’ve netted 14 times in that time span. Both teams come into this game with a myriad of injuries, especially the Blues. United will play without the likes of Casemiro, Eriksen, Martinez and Mount. Chelsea, on the flip side, are without Chilwell, Nkunku, Gusto, Madueke, Chalobah, Lavia and Fofana.

This will probably be a close game, and could go either way as to whether it will be low or high-scoring. Both these sides have been incredibly inconsistent in recent months that it is difficult to gauge a prediction. If we had to give someone a very slight edge, its probably Chelsea, although an X at 3.50 is good value for money. A chance for redemption for one of these two sides? Depends on the performance and, most of all, the result from tonight’s vital clash.
