Premier League Matchday 6: Arsenal – Tottenham Hotspur, Emirates Stadium, London

Overview

The North London Derby is back, and we can’t wait for this amazing clash! Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur will face off at the Emirates Stadium Sunday afternoon for what is the first North London Derby of the season, and what an exciting time for it to happen. Arsenal are coming off a fantastic home victory in the Champions League against Dutch side PSV, while Spurs are not competing in Europe this season and therefore had all week to prepare for this important match.

Both sides come into this clash on 13 points and second place in the league table alongside Liverpool, behind only juggernauts Manchester City. Under new manager Ange Postecoglu, Spurs have looked like a renewed side compared to last year, especially in attack, as they have scored a notable 15 goals in their first 5 league appearances, a stunning average of 3 per game. Summer signing James Maddison was voted the Premier league MVP for the Month of August, and rightfully so, helping his side overcome the likes of Manchester United and Bournemouth. Arsenal, on the other hand, have scored 9 goals during the same run and have been slightly less convincing than their North London counterparts, narrowly overcoming Crystal palace and Everton away, and only beating Manchester United at home following two very late goals.

Prediction and Odds

Both sides have done quite well at avoiding conceding many goals so far this campaign, but it would not surprise us to see somewhat of a goal fest at the Emirate Sunday, as both attacks have looked more than capable of scoring in their last outings – Tottenham recently overcame Burnley away 2-5, while Arsenal defeated pesky PSV on Wednesday 4-0. Arsenal’s front three of Martinelli, Jesus and Saka are among the most dangerous striking force in Europe when in form, and they will have to be if they are to beat this staunch Spurs team that have brought entertaining football back to their fans.

We predict a relatively open game and, considering they play at home, we give Arsenal the advantage in this North London Derby, although the fact the Spurs have had all week to prepare for this match may indicate otherwise. Saka and Maddison are on top form, so it would not be surprising if they were the X fact in this match for their respective sides and played a major part in determining the final result. If you are feeling good, play YES on “Both Teams to Score”, and/or an Over 2.5, as we see this being a cracking match. Can’t wait!
