Bayern Munich – Real Madrid, Allianz Arena, Munich, Tuesday 21:00CET

Bayern and Real seem to play each other in almost every single edition of the Champions League, and more often than not in the semifinals stage. This is the biggest game of the season for both teams: Real have essentially wrapped up the Liga title (11 points ahead of Barcelona with five games to go), while Bayern have already lost the Bundesliga title to Leverkusen and have failed to win any other trophy this season . The Bavarians only hope for silverware this year is effectively the Champions League title. Both of these teams had hard fought encounters in the Quarterfinals – and both against English opposition. Real Madrid heroically withstood Manchester City’s onslaught at the Etihad to win on penalties, while Bayern – perhaps surprisingly – kept their cool and dispatched of Arsenal at home 1-0 after drawing 2-2 at the Emirates a week before.

It is important for Bayern to take what they can out of this game, as winning at the Bernabeu is an almost impossible task for anyone – even though Man City came close. Bayern are facing a number of injury troubles, which have thrown Thomas Tuchel’s plans in air: Sane, Gnabry and Musiala are all doubtful for this clash. If all play in behind kane, that would certainly bolster the Germans’ chances. In addition, Bayern will certianly be without the centerback duo of De Ligt and Upamecano – with Kim and Dier almost certain to start in front of Manuel Neuer. On the other front, Madrid’s only injured players remain Alaba and Courtois, while Carvajal is suspended and will be replaced most likely by Lucas Vazquez, who played very well when he came on against Manchester City. Expect this to be a thoroughly entertaining contest, with speedsters like Alphonso Davies, Rodrygo and Vinicius squaring up, as well as yet another tough duel for Rudiger after his bout with Haaland in the quarters, as he tries to keep Kane quiet.

I expect this to be a relatively open game, as Bayern will need to take something out of this feature to go to the Bernabeu with next week. For a safer bet, go for “Both Teams to Score” at 1.50: if Bayern’s attacking lineup is healthy, they will certainly pose a few problems to Real Madrid. If you’re more keen on Real Madrid’s chances, as I am, play A Madrid doublechance at 1.59 or an outright Madrid victory at 2.90 for an even greater return. For a riskier play, go for Vinicius to score anytime at 2.85: Bayern’s backline pairing of Kim and Dier don’t particularly inspire confidence if I’m honest, although I could be wrong.

Bayern Munich to Win – 2.28

Draw – 3.75

Real Madrid to Win – 2.90

Borussia Dortmund – PSG, Signal Iduna Park, Dortmund, Wednesday 21:00CET

Its quite uncommon to see two teams that matched up in the group stage go head-to0head again in the Champions League semifinals. PSG and Dortmund had their issues in this year’s group of death (which also featured AC Milan and Newcastle United), but have been impressive ever since in this year’s knockout rounds. Both teams had to recerse deficits from their Quarterfinal first legs against Spanish opposition: Dortmund majesterially overturned a goal deficit at home against Atletico Madrid by winning 4-2, while PSG went to Barcelona and win 4-1 following an early red card to Ronald Araujo. PSG have already wrapped up the Ligue 1 title, and will also have the chance ti win the Coupe de France in late May against Lyon, meaning a treble is still on the cards for the Parisians. Much like Bayern Munich, on the other hand, the Champions League is the only chance at silverware this season for Borussia Dortmund.

Both teams should line up with what is effectively thier starting squad: the only doubts for Dortmund are Haller and Malen who are doubtful for Wednesday’s clash. The group stage matches these two played gave us a clear outcome: Dortmund were thoroughly outplayed in paris on Matchday 1 and lost 2-0. On the last group matchday, these two teams played one of the most entertaining 1-1 draws in years, which could easily have ended in a PSG win especially towards the end of the match. I see this semifinal going much the same way. Dortmund will need to avoid losing at home – which they have done for almost 3 years in the Champions League. PSG are a more complicated side that have done better away from home than in Paris thropughout these knockout fixtures against Barcelona and Real Sociedad. Both teams are unable to keep clean sheets (PSG and Dortmund have conceded at least a goal in all of their last six league games), so Both Teams Top Score is a good shout at a low 1.40. For a risky play, I suggest Mbappe to score anytime at 1.90, or even to score 2+ goals, as I believe he will cause all sorts of chaos for Dortmund’s slow backline, at 4.60.

Borussia Dortmund to Win – 2.71

Draw – 3.66

PSG to Win – 2.45
