Token airdrops are one of the most exciting events in the crypto ecosystem for investors and fans of specific Web3 projects. Matter Labs, the main development firm behind the Layer-2 network ZKsync era, announced its token airdrop on Tuesday this week. In addition to the announcement, Matter Labs also disclosed the plan for the release, meaning which group of people would receive which share of the airdrop. This is an important mileston for the crypto community, and with our very own $CGT token airdrop approaching, lets take a look at
- ZKsync’s distribution plan and how they will carry out their token’s airdrop starting next week, including how many tokens will be shared and who will be eligible to receive them
- How $CGT tokens can improve CoinGames users’ gaming experience and what other utilities they are bringing forth as relates to the crypto ecosystem as a whole.
ZKsync’s Airdrop Announcement
The ZKsync Association will therefore airdrop roughly 3.675 billion ZK tokens to early users and adopters of the Ethereum Layer-2 netowrk ZKsync this upcoming week. Here are more details regarding this event.
- The vent will be a one-time airdrop, with users being able to claim their tokens for a period spanning all the way to early January of next year.
- ZKsync has shortlisted just over 695,000 wallets for the airdrop, according to a press release published by the project. Under their distribution plan, 89% of the airdrop is reserved for ZKsync users – those are carrying out transactions on the platform and meet a threshold of activity. The rest (11%) will go to towards contributors to the ZKsync ecosystem, such as builders and on-chain communities.
- Matter Labs has also stated that the airdrop will “cap the amount that any given address can receive at 100,000 tokens.” By doing this, ZK is hoping that the airdrop will fairly reward its community members without pandering to whales by capping the airdrop amount. Matter Labs employees will receive 16.1% of the tokens, while investors will get 17.2%.
- Aevo, a crypto perpetuals exchange, is currently valuing the ZK token at $.66. This means the airdrop’s diluted value is placed at just over $2.5 billion.
- Recently, before the airdrop announcement, Matter Labs has received severe backlash from other Layer-2 projects over its decision to trademark the term “ZK” (shorthand for “zero-knowledge”). This is an abbreviation for “zero-knowledge” cryptography, a core technology for a number of blockchain projects.
